After-Biopsy Care Instructions

• A band-aid is placed over your biopsy site to start the healing process and help prevent infection.
  ➤ Keep this band-aid on for the rest of the night.
• In the morning, gently remove the band-aid.
• Clean the biopsy site once daily using lukewarm water and a gentle, unscented soap.
• Pat the area dry with a clean, soft washcloth or disposable paper towel.
• Apply a thin layer of Vaseline® or Aquaphor®, then cover with a new band-aid.
• If you prefer fewer dressing changes, you may use a hydrocolloid dressing, which can stay in place for 2–3 days.
• Continue this routine daily until the biopsy site has healed or until your stitches are removed if you had a punch biopsy with stitches.
