- Redness, swelling, and mild discomfort are common after liquid nitrogen treatment.
- Clean the area once daily with lukewarm water and a gentle, unscented soap.
- Pat dry using a clean, soft washcloth or disposable paper towel.
- Apply a thin layer of Vaseline® or Aquaphor® several times a day to promote healing.
- You may use a band-aid to cover the area if it is irritated by clothing or if doing so makes it feel more comfortable.
If a blister forms (which is common):
- If the blister is painful, you may sterilize a pin or needle with rubbing alcohol and gently puncture the side of the blister to release the fluid.
- Gently press to drain the fluid, then apply more Vaseline® or Aquaphor®.
- Cover with a Band-Aid and let it heal over the next 12-24 hours.
- You may repeat these steps if the blister refills.
- Do not remove the roof of the blister. Leaving it intact protects the area and helps prevent infection.
